Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 boneless beef chops
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 small onion thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Fresh parsley chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season beef chops with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and brown the beef chops for 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter, add sliced onions, and cook until translucent. Sprinkle flour, stirring until lightly browned. Gradually whisk in milk and chicken broth until thickened, then stir in thyme, paprika, and half of the cheese.
  4. Grease a baking dish and layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. Pour half of the cheese sauce over them, place browned beef chops on top, then layer remaining potatoes and cheese sauce with the rest of the cheese on top.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
