  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar (divided)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup room temperature butter
  • 1 beaten egg

Instructions

  1. In a medium pot, combine cranberries, 1 cup sugar, and water. Cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes until thickened. Allow to cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add beaten egg to combine.
  4. Press half of the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan to form the crust.
  5. Spread cooled cranberry mixture evenly over the crust.
  6. Sprinkle remaining crumb mixture on top.
  7. Bake in preheated oven at 350°F for about 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool completely before slicing into squares.
